About SKILL
The SKILL Programme team was established in late 2004 by the National SKILL Steering Group, with the remit to:
- Provide an opportunity for support staff to return to learning
- Develop robust competency frameworks and select suitably qualified providers for FETAC accredited programmes to update and extend knowledge and skills of the support staff workforce and to improve job efficiency and effectiveness, and consequently improve services to patients/clients
- Develop areas of expertise to progress the "skill mix" requirements of the health services having regard to workforce and provide opportunities which will enable support staff to up-skill and move to other support service categories.
