SKILL Grant Scheme
SKILL stands for Securing Knowledge Intra Lifelong Learning. The SKILL Programme is about a designated central training and development fund for supervisors and support staff (circa 28,500) employed in the Irish health and personal social services. The SKILL Programme arises from, and is part of, a development and restructuring agreement between employer and union sides known as "Recognising and Respecting the Role" (2003). This has its origins in the parallel benchmarking process and hence applies only to the grades of staff covered by this agreement.
The SKILL Grant Scheme has been devised to provide grants for those undertaking studies at Junior Certificate, Leaving Certificate, and Diploma/Degree Levels. The scheme has a funding allocation of circa €250,000 for 2007-2008.
