JFK Fellowships 2006-2008
In 2006, under a unique and special arrangement six Fellowships were negotiated for the SKILL Programme. Following a comprehensive application and selection process utilising a partnership approach with the involvement of local union representatives, these were awarded to support staff covered by the parallel benchmarking agreement and currently employed in the following Intellectual Disability services: Stewarts Hospital; Ability West; Brothers of Charity (Waterford); Western Care; and Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary (Moore Abbey). One application was also accepted from Eve Limited.

Activities organised for 2006-2008 JFK Jr. Fellows
Mentoring Workshop
A one day workshop was designed for Fellows and their Mentors on 18th October 2006 in the Tullamore Court Hotel to provide them with the opportunity to explore the benefits of the mentoring relationship and working together. They also had an opportunity to practice the “first meeting”. Feedback from the day was very positive.
Development Event
The JFK Jr. Fellows development event for 2008 was an accredited training workshop for Fellows and Mentors on Dr Edward De Bono’s Six Thinking Hats.
The workshop was facilitated by Craig Barton, Executive Director of Operations and Service Improvements, North West Wales NHS Trust. www.debonothinkingsystems.com
The event was held on Wednesday 16th April 2008, from 10am to 4pm. Feedback from the day was very positive.
