Skill - Securing Knowledge Intra Life Long Learning

Manager's Toolkit

The Manager’s Toolkit has been designed to provide practical guidance on enrolling and managing staff who are enrolled on the SKILL Programmes.

As a Manager there are direct benefits in encouraging your staff to take part in the programme. After participating on a SKILL programme it is expected that Support Staff and Supervisors will have:

  • Improved the quality and standards of the service and care, which they provide.
  • Had the opportunity to return to learning.
  • Improved their knowledge and skills.
  • Have greater clarity regarding their roles and functions.
  • Enhanced their career opportunities.
  • Been up-skilled to fulfil higher level duties where appropriate.
  • Increased their morale, motivation, mobility and flexibility.
  • Acquired educational accreditation for their achievements.

Managers have found that those learners who have undertaken the programme have returned with increased enthusiasm for work, and play a full role in the team.
