SKILL Programmes

The SKILL Programme is focused on the design and delivery of FETAC Level 3, 4, 5 & 6 accredited programmes for Support Staff and Line Managers/Supervisors within the HSE. These staff include:

  • Catering Assistants.
  • CSSD/TSSD technicians.
  • Drivers.
  • Family Support Workers.
  • Healthcare Assistants.
  • Household Staff.
  • Home Support Workers/ Community Carers.
  • General Assistants.
  • Laundry Staff.
  • Therapy Assistants.
  • Speech & Language Therapy Assistants.
  • Laboratory Aides.
  • Porters.
  • Supervisors.
  • Semi-skilled persons/crafts-person’s mates/maintenance persons.

After participating on a SKILL programme it is expected that Support Staff and Supervisors will have:

  • improved the quality and standards of the service and care, which they provide
  • had the opportunity to return to learning
  • improved their knowledge and skills
  • have greater clarity regarding their roles and functions
  • enhanced their career opportunities
  • been up-skilled to fulfil higher level duties where appropriate
  • increased their morale, motivation, mobility and flexibility; and
  • acquired educational accreditation for their achievements.
